How BreakSignal works across web and Android.

BreakSignal is designed to stay simple: local settings, no account, no backend, and a timer that works while the page or Android app is open.

FAQ

BreakSignal questions

What is BreakSignal?

BreakSignal is a calm break reminder for eye breaks, stretch breaks, walking breaks, posture checks, and focus resets while working at a computer.

Does BreakSignal keep working after I close the tab?

No. The countdown runs while the browser tab or Android app is open. Your settings and history can stay saved locally, but the timer does not continue after the app or tab is closed.

Where are settings saved?

Your reminder interval, break types, theme, sound preferences, daily count, and recent history are stored locally with localStorage on your browser or Android WebView.

Does BreakSignal collect data?

No account is required, and BreakSignal does not include a backend database, analytics, advertising SDKs, or external APIs for core timer behavior.

Can I use it for the 20-20-20 eye break rule?

Yes. You can use the 20-20-20 preset or set a reminder interval that fits your workflow, then keep Eye Break enabled for regular prompts to look away and soften your focus.

Does BreakSignal play sounds?

Yes. BreakSignal can generate optional reminder tones in the browser with the Web Audio API. It does not load external audio files or use the microphone.

Does BreakSignal work on mobile?

The layout is responsive and the Android app wraps the same static web app with Capacitor. Core timer behavior does not require internet access after the app is loaded.

Does BreakSignal support keyboard navigation?

Yes. Use Tab to move through controls and Enter or Space to activate buttons, links, and form controls.
