BreakSignal privacy
How BreakSignal handles information across web and Android.
BreakSignal keeps its core timer experience local. This policy explains what the app stores on your device, which permissions are optional, and what is not sent to the developer.
Overview
App Overview
BreakSignal is a break reminder for eye breaks, stretching, walking, posture checks, and focus resets. The timer is designed to run locally while the browser tab or Android app is open.
The Android app uses the same static HTML, CSS, and JavaScript app inside a Capacitor wrapper. BreakSignal does not require an account, backend service, database, analytics service, advertising SDK, or external API for its core timer behavior.
Information
Information We Collect
BreakSignal does not ask for your name, email address, location, contacts, photos, payment information, or account credentials. The app stores local preferences and break activity records on your device so it can remember your choices.
On your device
Local Storage
BreakSignal uses browser or Android WebView localStorage to save app data locally. This may include:
- Reminder interval and snooze settings.
- Selected break types and custom break messages.
- Theme, sound, volume, and alert tone preferences.
- Daily break count and break history entries.
- Notification preference for supported web browser use.
Local-only storage: BreakSignal app code does not send this localStorage data to a server.
Optional permissions
Notifications
On supported browsers, BreakSignal asks for notification permission only if you choose to enable browser notifications. The permission is optional and is used only for break reminders while allowed by your browser.
The current Android app disables the web notification setting inside the Capacitor app shell and does not use a native push notification service or request native push notification permission.
Local audio
Sound Alerts
BreakSignal can play optional reminder sounds generated locally with the Web Audio API. The app does not record audio, access your microphone, or load external audio files.
External services
Third-Party Services
BreakSignal does not include analytics, advertising networks, tracking pixels, crash reporting SDKs, authentication providers, external scripts, external fonts, external APIs, or social media SDKs.
If you use the hosted website, the website host may process standard technical connection information, such as IP address and user agent, as part of normal hosting logs. BreakSignal app code does not use that information for tracking or profiling.
No sale of data
Data Sharing
BreakSignal does not sell, rent, share, or transfer personal information. The app does not transmit your local timer settings or break history to the developer or to third parties.
Your controls
Data Retention and Deletion
BreakSignal keeps local settings and break history on your device until you clear them. You can clear break history inside the app. You can remove all locally stored app data by clearing browser site data, clearing Android app storage, or uninstalling the Android app.
General audience
Children's Privacy
BreakSignal is a general productivity tool and is not directed to children. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Data minimization
Security
BreakSignal is designed to minimize data risk by keeping timer settings and break history local to your device. The Android app currently declares only the Internet permission and does not request location, camera, microphone, contacts, or file storage permissions.
